The Conference identifies several sections the priority areas for action to embed the SDGs more fully within STI policy frameworks:
- increased understanding of effective tools for policy action and decision-making in the transition to sustainability;
- how public and private organizations can adapt to accelerate progress on the SDGs;
- fostering of “mission-oriented” R&D partnerships involving public research, business, and other stakeholders to address specific concerns;
- integration of methods, tools, and techniques for providing a greater supporting policymaking when coping with sustainable transitions, including monitoring and evaluation systems;
- interactions between science and policy is critical to tackling global challenges including the SDGs;
- boosting integration among stakeholders, with a significant impact on policymakers’ and performers’ interaction and positioning;
- improve the orientation of the EU STI tools towards achievement of SDGs.
